Some forex traders prefer to stop trading during High Impact News and Events. The reason is that during such News and Events there could be some big movements. Volatility Factor 2.0 Pro has an integrated advanced News Filter. In this post we will explain how to enable and configure it.

To enable the News Filter you have to do the followin change in the Volatility Factor 2.0 Pro settings:

- Avoid_News = true

When the News Filter is enabled you will be able to see the coming news and events on the information box on the chart. Check the below image:

When you use the News Filter you have to make sure that the GMT settings of Volatility Factor 2.0 Pro are correct. By default automatic GMT detection is enabled and the robot successfully manages to detect the current GMT offset of your broker. But due to DST (Daylight saving time) some brokers change their GMT offset during winter and summer. Therefore you have to make sure that DST_Usage parameter's value is correct according to your broker. Below you can find some additional information about DST_Usage setting for the main cases:

Case 1: Broker changes GMT offset(for ex.  winter=2; summer=3)
DST_Usage=true

Case 2: Broker does not change GMT offset(for ex. winter/summer=2)
DST_Usage=false

If you are not sure about the DST settings we recommend you to ask your broker whether they change the gmt durign winter and summer.  This will help you to figure it out.

By default the robot also filters the Medium Impact News and Events. You may want to disable this and let the robot  trades during Medium News and Events because such news and events don't always produce some big movements. To disable this set: 

- Include_Medium_News = false

Last but not least, one of the most flexible parts of this system is that you can set the time when the robot to stop/start trading before/after the news and events. Below you can find examples:

Wait_Before_News=30 (this means the robot will stop trading 30 minutes before the news)
Wait_After_News=30 (this means the robot will start trading 30 minutes after the news)

Description of the parameters for News Filter:

Avoid_News true/false - if you wish to use the news filter function, you should set Avoid_News=true

Include_Medium_News true/false: if you also wish to avoid the medium impact news, you should set Include_Medium_News=true

Wait_Before_News: the number of minutes before the news and events, during which trading will be switched off

Wait_After_News: the number of minutes after the news and events, during which trading will be switched off
